Can you go to the DFA as a walk-in to process your passport application? If you belong to these special groups listed below, yes, you can. No Appointment Needed!

There are certain individuals allowed to process passport as a walk-in applicant in any DFA Branches all throughout the country EXCEPT in the DFA-NCR Central Branch since only OFWs are accommodated there. This is the branch located across POEA, in Robinsonโ€™s Galleria.

DFA branches has a Priority Lane or Courtesy Lane available for those who meets the qualification for the no appointment passport processing.

No Available Slots for Passport Appointment

There is a good number of Filipinos who have been clamoring to bring back the walk-in process in renewing or applying for a passport in the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA). ย This is brought upon by the difficulty in securing online appointment that is currently being experience by individuals who wants to renew or apply for a passport since last year.

Yet, when you check on Facebook, there are travel agencies and agents peddling their โ€œpassport appointmentโ€ services. In exchange for a service fee of two thousand pesos to eight thousand pesos, these travel agents can allegedly secure you an appointment schedule fast, without hassle.

But, if an ordinary Filipino will get online on the official passport appointment website www.passport.gov.ph, almost all days are Full, no more open and available slots in most branches.

1Pisofare just tested this a few minutes ago, for February to June 2018 there are no more slots as of today for DFA Cebu, Aseana, Davao, and other Manila branches. There are a few slots in DFA Baguio per our check today, January 31.

The rising anger of Filipinos for the apparent passport scheduling issue has led DFA Secretary Cayetano to open additional slots until June in all DFA branches, as well as put forth a mobile passport program to reach more Filipinos. But despite these efforts, the demand for appointment slots are ever increasing while the available slots are getting scarce.

Some have lamented, why not bring back the walk-in applications in consideration for those who have been watching for a slot to open-up to no avail, and also for those Filipinos who have no access to internet and thus canโ€™t make a passport appointment online. At the end of the day, only DFA will be able to answer and address this issue on passport scheduling.

Who Can Walk-in in DFA for Passport Processing?

There are special groups of people allowed to process passport as walk-in applicants. These individuals must bring their appropriate valid ID together with all other requirements for passport first-time applicant or passport renewal.

If you are part of these special group, you can go to any DFA offices, go straight to the OFW and Priority Lane. The guard will ask you to show your special ID before you can use the Priority Lane.

  • OFW with sufficient proof of status such as iDOLE Card, valid employment contract (authenticated by POEA), and work visa
  • Senior Citizen with Senior Citizen ID
  • Person with Disability (PWDs) with PWD ID or visible disability
  • Solo Parent with Valid Solo Parent ID
  • Pregnant women with medical certificate
  • Minors seven (7) years old and below

You may avail of the OFW LANE or PRIORITY LANE at DFA Aseana or at any DFA Satellite Office or Regional Consular Office to apply for your passport.

*This is not verified information, but some say that the accompanying parent or guardian (one only) of a minor applicant may process his/her passport, the same time with the minor applicant via the courtesy lane.

GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES โ€“ DFA PRIORITY LANE ACCESS

Additional info based on our own researched: Employees of the government and government-controlled corporations are also allowed to use the courtesy lane. Bring your government or GOCC ID when you come to the DFA.

Family Member of a Government Employee

Question: Can a family member of a government employee be also allowed to use the priority lane? Meaning, can a family member also enjoy the โ€œno appointment neededโ€ benefit if they are given a referral by a family member who is also a government employee?

The 1pisofare.com/ Team researched about the answer to the question above, and based on our online check, a lot of people are saying that yes, indeed, a government employee may refer an IMMEDIATE family member, so they too can go straight to the Courtesy Lane without scheduling an appointment online.

*The required document is a referral letter signed by the government employee, indicating how you are related to the referring person and what is the referring personโ€™s position in the government. You also need to submit a photocopy of the government ID of the referring person.

  1. For Single government employees – the parents and siblings of a government employee who is Single may use the DFA priority lane, so no appointment is needed. (Please reverify this info direct with DFA to be 100% sure.)ย
  1. For Married government employees โ€“ their spouses and children may also use the DFA Priority Lane. (Please reverify this info direct with DFA to be 100% sure.)ย
  1. Cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles, titaโ€™s, distant relatives, etc., etc., of a government employee are not allowed for the REFERRAL to DFA.

However, please note that these info on government employee and referrals came from an online check, not direct from an official website of the government. So, we strongly suggest that you call your preferred DFA Branch first and ask them if they can accommodate you on the Priority Lane as a government employee or as an immediate family member of a government employee with a referral.ย

Passport Fee for Those Who Will Use the Priority Lane

For all those who will use the Courtesy Lane Facility or what is popularly known as Priority Lane, the passport fee is P1,200.

*If you will avail of the Courtesy Lane, your passport processing will automatically be expedited. There is no option for a regular processing unless you are a Senior Citizen with valid Senior Citizen ID.

*Seniors can choose regular processing and will pay only P950.

I think this government appointment system is a disgrace, my wife has been trying to renew her passport ( she only has 3 months left on her old passport) so she can apply for a Visa to accompany me on a overseas holiday. the visa application also take a month after she gets her new passport and we cannot get our Travel arrangements done until she knows when she will get an appointment. everything is booked until the end of June and no available slots after that
