Now that you have successfully booked your promo ticket, is it a piso fare from Cebu Pacific or Air Asia or PAL? It is time to prepare your things for your travel and/or vacation. A few of the things you have to do is to decide what to bring from clothes to accessories to gadgets, etc, and then how to pack them best so they won’t take up much space.
Smart travel packing is very important especially if you did not book any checked-in baggage, and must abide by the 7 kilos limitation on free hand-carry bag. We have these packing suggestions for you to help you become a smart packer. Follow all or just follow those most applicable to your situation.
Gather the things that you’ll bring with you on your trip – shirts, pants, dresses, your cameras, phones, jewelries etc,
Use a Ziploc or any resealable storage bag. You can buy cheap ones like SM Bonus zip bags. If you have extra budget you can invest in special vacuum compression bags, it’s a bit expensive but if you travel a lot, it is worth looking into.
You can organize your outfit by day, and put these into separate Ziplocs. Put your clothes inside the resealable bag and then kneel on them to force the air out, before sealing them by hand. This will save you time once you are in your destination since you will just need to pick one Ziploc bag, and use the contents as your clothing for the day. No need to rummage through your bag, it saves you not only bag space but also time. Its downside: you will deal with a lot of Ziploc if you are vacationing for several days.
Alternatively, you can use mesh type storage bag and organize your stuff per type. Say one mesh bag for all you shirts, one for all your undies, one for your hygiene stuff like lotion, perfume, soap, shampoo, one for the gadgets chargers, etc. This helps in organizing your things.
If you don’t have any kind of storage bags, the best thing that you can do to still save some space on your backpack or luggage is to roll your clothes. If you are doubting if this packing method will work, try it the next time you pack and compare the result versus the traditional “folding packing” and “rolling packing” technique.
*You can also roll your clothes before you put them into the Ziploc or storage bags.
Travel Hacks: Bags allowed for hand carry Baggage on Planes
Buy travel-sized toothpaste, shampoos, soaps, conditioner, lotions, etc. If they come in sachet form like for shampoo and conditioner, the better. Also don’t forget the airport carry-on bag item restrictions – above 100 ml containers are not allowed on the carry-on bag.
If you have done your research ahead and know that there are malls or sari-sari stores, or 7-Eleven nearby your hotel, you may opt not to bring toiletries and just buy them when you get to your destination. The freed-up space on your bag can be used for more important items like extra set of your favorite clothes.
If you want to be fashionable but don’t want to bring lots of clothes, we suggest you buy quality reversible dresses, blouses, shorts, jeans. Reversible items of clothing comes in handy especially if you don’t know yet the vibe you want to go for a particular day, this way you can choose one side or reverse to the other. You can also buy pants that converts into simple shorts. Or clothes that you can use 3-ways, 5-ways etc. These are available in the malls. But wait, if you were out trekking on a hot summer day and perspiration rules the day, please don’t reuse your clothing! It’s unhygienic.
If showing up in immaculate get-up is your thing, you may want to look into rumple-proof clothes so you don’t worry about creases, or at least the creases are manageable. There are some hotels especially the cheaper accommodations like backpacker’s inn, lodges, bed and breakfast, pension houses that does not have iron in the rooms, and does not offer clothes ironing service. If you are staying in 4 stars, 5 stars hotels, this won’t be a problem as you can just send your clothes to housekeeping for ironing for a minimal fee.
These are simple packing tips but they work. Try it on your next travel and vacation, and let us know of your experience by sharing it to the rest of the Piso Fare community on Facebook our FB page!!!
