Do you know that Air Asia charges different processing fee per payment method? Yep, they have different fees for payment by credit card/debit card, payment by cash through counters, and payment through DragonPay internet banking.
The absolute NO PROCESSING FEE is only for those who have AirAsia BIG Prepaid Mastercard. But only a handful has this card in the Philippines, so not really relevant for us here in the country.
Among the 3 options mentioned previously, what payment method will give the biggest savings when booking online with Air Asia?
It is DragonPay Internet Banking.
1Pisofare sample demo will use 9 persons on a single booking, flying round trip. So that’s total of 18 tickets. 9 flights going to destination and 9 flights return trip. See the video demo included in this post.
HOW MUCH ADDITIONAL PAYMENT for PROCESSING FEE in AirAsia?
Aside from the cost of your promo ticket, Air Asia charges a processing fee for online booking and here are the particulars:
- If you will book using credit card, you will pay P224 per person, per way as processing fee. Imagine if you are booking promo tickets 2018 for 9 persons round trip. The total processing fee is P4,032. Ouch. This amount will be added to the cost of ticket.
P224 x 18 tickets = P4,032 processing
- If you will book using cash and will pay in counters / payment centers like Cebuana Lhuillier, 7 Eleven, Bayad Center, SM Business Center, Robinson’s Bank, etc, you will pay additional P224 per person, per booking.
P224 x 9 persons in one booking = P2,016 processing fee
Additional sample: We tried booking 1 person Round trip and choosing cash payment option, the processing fee is P224 only.
We also made a trial booking for 1 person 1 way flight, and the processing fee is P224 still. Since if it is cash payment, the fee is PER PERSON, PER BOOKING. On the last 1Pisofare trial booking, we tried 2 passengers round trip and the processing fee for cash counter payment is P448. Computation: P224 per person, per booking x 2 persons = P448.
- If you will pay your AirAsia tickets using Dragonpay internet banking direct debit, you will only pay P224 PER BOOKING, maximum of 9 pax per booking.
9 passengers in one booking itinerary = P224 processing fee
For 9 guests round trip flights on AirAsia, the resulting fee comparison is P4,032 versus P2,016 versus P224.
Watch the DEMO if you want to see an actual trial booking, please ignore the price of ticket since when our 1Pisofare team made the demo we did not choose promo fares. Our purpose for this booking guide is to show you and all readers a comparison of online booking processing fees for the specific 3 payment methods available in buying AirAsia tickets.
This video demo is made today September 2, 2017. If there will be changes in the future, we will try our best to update this post and demo.
Ka Piso Fare Friends please be reminded too that the processing fee is NOT REFUNDABLE even if you will not use your ticket due to cancellation or no show.
