If you have Gcash and you have funds in your Gcash account wallet, then you are in luck because you can use Gcash to pay for your Air Asia tickets booked online.
This is also a good alternative for those without credit cards and debit cards. Why? Because applying for a Gcash account is easy, and loading funds to your Gcash is easy too. And the best thing is if you will use Gcash via DragonPay option – you will not pay high processing fee!

If you have been booking tickets in Air Asia website or via their app. You will notice that every time you use ‘credit card’ or ‘payment partners’ as the payment option, you must pay a processing fee of P134.40 per person per flight.
Imagine if you are booking for 2 persons for round trip tickets. The Air Asia credit card and payment partner processing fee is more than P500! Ouch.
Demo: 2 pax x 2 flights each (back and forth flights or round trip) x P134.40 processing fee/flight/pax = P537.60
The same is true if you will choose payment partners like Cebuana Lhuillier, Bayad Center, Robinson’s Department Store, SM Department Store, 7 Eleven.
Now if it’s an Air Asia piso fare ticket like what happened with some passengers who booked Tacloban to Manila tickets and Puerto Princesa to Manila at P29 per flight all in ticket cost. The credit card processing fee is way higher than what the passengers actually paid for the airplane tickets!
So what is the alternative payment method so you will not incur expensive processing fee in Air Asia online booking? Select option Internet Banking using DragonPay payment facility, then Gcash.
HOW TO PAY WITH DRAGONPAY and GCASH?
What will happen is that you will book your Air Asia ticket -> Pay via DragonPay choosing payment option like Gcash -> DragonPay will remit the payment to Air Asia ->Air Asia will confirm your ticket and send you a copy of your ticket via email.
When you get to the payment page during the booking process, choose the option in Air Asia that says “Internet Banking (Direct debit)”. This is the first option.
Click ‘Continue’. A DragonPay gateway window will then pop-up, and it will show the different options that you can use to pay for your ticket. You can use DragonPay with BDO internet banking fund transfer, BPI Express Online or Mobile Fund Transfer, Chinabank Online, Landline ATM Online, Metrobankdirect, RCBC AccessOne, UCPB Connect, and finally BPI Globe BanKO and Globe Gcash.
Gcash is the only non-banking company in the options for DragonPay. It is relatively easier to get or apply for a Globe Gcash account versus applying for a banking product.

How much is the DragonPay processing fee for using Gcash to pay for Air Asia ticket? P5.
A P5 DragonPay-Gcash service fee as opposed to P134.40 charge if you use credit / debit card or select payment partner. Big savings right there.
You will need to enter your Gcash number, then a text message will be sent to your Gcash registered sim. Review your booking, check for accuracy of flight details and passengers and amount to pay, if all are correct enter your MPIN to make the payment. Follow the prompts.
Once payment is successful you will receive an email confirmation from DragonPay like this one:
When you access your Air Asia membership account, you will see that the ticket you’ve just booked which was on status “Pending” will now be on “Confirmed” status after you successfully paid.
You can now print your ticket or just take a screenshot of your ticket and save this to your phone. When you get to the airport, just show your ticket screenshot to the airport guard and check-in counter staff, ticket screenshot with your ID is enough to check you in.
