Good news for our senior citizens and pwds who wants to book airfare tickets online – per the Civil Aeronautics Board, you are eligible for a 20% discount off the ticket price if you book online.
The Magna Carta for Senior Citizens and Persons with Different Ability states that these two groups are entitled to a 20% off services and products for personal use or consumption. Unfortunately, the current set-up is that the airlines only gives the 20% discount if the booking is made in a ticketing branch. If the senior citizen or pwd book a ticket via online website or app, the 20% discount is not applicable.
This coming Thursday, July 13, 2017 the Civil Aeronautics Board or CAB will issue a directive and guidelines to the different airlines in the Philippines to implement this discount as it is provided by in our law.
1Pisofare will share the update about this news to our readers once airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Air Asia, etc implements the discount on online booking.
*During check-in at the airport, those who book online and availed of the discount for Senior Citizen and PWDs will be asked to present the respective ID for verification purposes.
We will also share if the senior citizen or pwd will be able to book and buy promo fare tickets and gets a discount too. Or if the senior citizen / pwd will not be able to enjoy the 20% discount if the ticket is under a promo fare or seat sale.

There’s still no way to get a discount when booking online. I tried it recently with PAL and now trying it also on Cebu Pacific. There’s still no option for this unfortunately.

Hi JS, Thank you for the feedback. We have also been monitoring announcements by CAAP and the airlines, wala pa kaming nasasagap na fully implemented na to 100%.

Hi Jorge, if the ticket you were trying to buy is a PROMO FARE ticket, the discount will not apply. The mandated 20% discount will only apply for REGULAR TICKETS. Watch the 1Pisofare Video we made on buying tickets with discounts for senior citizens.

Hi, booked online via cebu pac for 2 senior citizens, but didn’t get any discount on base fare, just the vat exemption.
